About The Position

Garden City Healthcare Center is seeking a compassionate and dependable Restorative Nursing Aide (RNA) for our full-time PM shift. The RNA provides routine restorative nursing care designed to improve, maintain, and maximize each resident’s functional independence and quality of life. This role works closely with nursing and therapy teams to promote mobility, dignity, and resident-centered care in a skilled nursing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
  • Restorative Aide training certificate required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • Ability to read and understand technical procedures and policy manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
  • Strong observational skills and ability to report changes in condition.
  • Ability to apply practical reasoning to solve resident care challenges.
  • Must maintain all required continuing education and licensure.
  • Must remain in good standing with the Department of Public Health, License and Certification Division.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of experience in a long-term care facility preferred.
  • Knowledge of PCC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with exercises to improve or maintain mobility and independence.
  • Encourage residents to remain active and out of bed unless medically contraindicated.
  • Assist with transfers, ambulation, and active/passive range of motion exercises.
  • Support the Therapy Department with restorative programs.
  • Change resident positions to prevent skin breakdown and maintain skin integrity.
  • Provide pressure-relieving devices and implement skin-protective measures.
  • Assist residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, shaving, nail care, and overall personal hygiene.
  • Ensure residents are clean and free from offensive odors.
  • Provide clean clothing and linens in good repair.
  • Assist with elimination needs, including emptying catheter bags and sanitizing bedpans, urinals, and bedside commodes.
  • Prepare residents for medical tests, therapy sessions, social activities, meals, and appointments.
  • Complete accurate and timely charting of care provided.
  • Report significant findings, changes in condition, or concerns to the Charge Nurse, RN Supervisor, Director of Nursing, and/or Therapy Department.
  • Maintain a calm, positive, and supportive atmosphere for residents.
  • Serve in a maintenance capacity in the therapist’s or consultant’s absence as appropriate.
