About The Position

The Restaurant Shift Supervisor assists managers in all phases of restaurant operations, including operating in the absence of a manager. This role is crucial for ensuring prompt, friendly service according to company guidelines, maintaining a professional image, and ensuring that all food and products are consistently prepared and served to restaurant standards. The supervisor is responsible for achieving company objectives in sales, service, quality, facility appearance, and sanitation, as well as controlling cash and other receipts through proper handling procedures. Key duties also include enforcing alcohol awareness, filling in where needed to ensure guest service and efficient operations, ensuring correct product receiving, correcting unsafe practices, administering personnel policies, and complying with all federal, state, county, and municipal health, safety, and labor regulations.

Requirements

  • Must have previous serving and/or bartending experience
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Can demonstrate knowledge of service and food and beverage
  • Serve Safe certification complete
  • TIPS certification complete
  • Possess excellent basic math skills and have the ability to operate a cash register or POS system
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50 pounds

Responsibilities

  • Ensures prompt, friendly service according to company guidelines; is guest driven.
  • Exhibits a professional image.
  • Completes duties of managers in their absence.
  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.
  • Achieve company objectives in sales, service, quality, appearance of facility and sanitation.
  • Control cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with restaurant policies and procedures.
  • Enforces alcohol awareness on a shift to shift basis.
  • Fill in where needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.
  • Ensure that all products are received in correct unit count and condition and deliveries are performed in accordance with the restaurant’s receiving policies and procedures.
  • Corrects unsafe practices or conditions.
  • Be knowledgeable of restaurant policies regarding personnel and administer prompt, fair and consistent corrective action for any and all violations of company policies, rules and procedures.
  • Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees and guests.
