About The Position

Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is seeking a Restaurant Chef – Sortino’s. In this role, you will be responsible for leading culinary operations at our popular Italian food outlet. You’ll assist in preparing food for all restaurant and room service meals, and in hiring, training, scheduling, and directing restaurant culinary and kitchen staff. As well as visually inspecting all food products to be served to ensure they meet the quality standards set by departmental and resort management. You’ll also be responsible for ensuring cleanliness, sanitation, and safety in the kitchen and storage areas, while minimizing waste and maximizing the cost/production ratio. You’ll help create an exceptional guest experience by ensuring every dish is prepared with consistency, quality, and care. You’ll also support and mentor the culinary team, fostering a positive kitchen environment that drives both associate growth and excellent service.

Requirements

  • We require a background of five years' progressive culinary experience and three years of culinary management experience.
  • Basic knowledge of P&L, labor control, & food cost/recipe costing.
  • Culinary expertise, attention to detail, and strong leadership skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with a high-volume, full-service restaurant, or production kitchen is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Kitchen Management – overseeing day-to-day operations, including food preparation, cooking, and quality control, ensuring efficiency and consistency.
  • Cost Management & Inventory Control – monitoring labor, inventory, and managing supplies to ensure the kitchen is well stocked and minimizing waste.
  • Maintaining High Standards & Sanitation Practices – continuously working to improve the kitchen’s efficiency, workflow, and overall quality of food and service.
