About The Position

For projects related to customer equipment, facilities, or infrastructure, this role is responsible for project delivery, profit and loss (P&L) accountability, and customer satisfaction through effective management of project-related activities and resources. The role impacts departmental operations and is responsible for planning and execution. It operates with some autonomy while remaining focused on the execution of activities within an operating discipline governed by established functional practices and procedures. Some judgment is required, typically with guidance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Finance or Engineering, or equivalent experience (finance training required for engineering degree)
  • Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written
  • 5+ years of experience planning large turnkey projects
  • Experience supporting cost control on at least 2 large turnkey projects
  • Experience as Lead Planner on at least 2 turnkey projects

Nice To Haves

  • Strong knowledge of project planning and proficiency in Primavera
  • Experience with SAP ERP
  • Knowledge of cost control practices on large, complex turnkey projects
  • Knowledge of forensic analysis on large, complex turnkey projects

Responsibilities

  • Develop integrated tender schedules and cost estimates
  • Develop the project schedule and project budget in cost and scheduling tools
  • Ensure compliance with the Global Standard process for Project Controls
  • Support the Project Manager in aligning project budgets with the sold scope in the appropriate systems
  • Maintain the project schedule and cost forecast throughout the project lifecycle
  • Analyze schedule and cost trends and provide the project team with cost and schedule forecasts
  • Maintain a register of potential schedule and cost risks
  • Maintain a register of actual and committed costs
  • Review and control cost movements, comparing them with current scope and progress as well as previous forecasts; compare against productivity factors and validate estimate accuracy
  • Communicate schedule, cost, forecast, and risk status to functional cost owners and drive/support risk mitigation
  • Provide internal and external reporting on project status
  • Collaborate with third parties on project costs and schedules
  • Present all financial data in a transparent manner and participate in project and management reviews to present cost status
  • Provide change order calculations to ensure schedule and cost estimates are accurate
  • Update changes in the appropriate systems to ensure costs reflect the current situation
  • Align with the Finance Controller to ensure reconciliation between approved project financial data and the accounting books
  • Support project closeout and claims
  • Provide support for tenders
  • Oversee the project planning function
  • Ensure the quality of project controls reporting
  • Ensure the accuracy of cost budgets, actuals, and forecasts
  • Collaborate with functional cost owners to identify cost reduction strategies
  • Ensure alignment with established standards (WBS, processes, procedures, and tool usage)
  • Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the project cost control team, where applicable
  • Comply with quality procedures, work instructions, and processes at the GSI level and within the Project Controls function
  • Report or resolve non-conformances and process deviations in a timely manner
  • Identify opportunities for standardization and optimization and, where possible, participate in Kaizen events or similar Lean activities to implement identified improvements
  • Demonstrate commitment to safety through participation in formal and informal discussions
  • Adhere to all safe work procedures in accordance with instructions
  • Ensure compliance with safety work instructions
  • Participate in the resolution of safety issues
  • Initiate actions to improve health and safety where needed
