Respite Sitter- Seasonal Summer
About The Position
Jovie Nannies + Sitters is seeking engaging, creative, and child-focused individuals for a flexible, rewarding seasonal summer opportunity. This role involves working with children and teens, including those with special needs such as autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy, in family homes. Sitters will engage children in various activities like play, reading, arts & crafts, and outdoor fun, while acting as a positive and caring role model. Jovie has been a trusted partner for families for over 20 years, providing caregivers with training, resources, and ongoing support. Requirements
- Childcare references from paid or unpaid experience
- Availability for part-time or full-time schedules, with 4-hour shifts between Weekdays: 12 pm – 8 pm and Weekends: 8 am – 6 pm
- Reliable and insured transportation to travel to various family homes
- Cell phone with data to accept and manage assignments
- Regular lifting, bending, squatting, reaching, and pushing
- Ability to lift 35 pounds safely
- Ability to get up and down from the floor frequently
- Ability to react quickly to various situations
- Ability to respond to emergent situations calmly, safely, and effectively
Nice To Haves
- Childcare or nanny experience
- Special needs experience in any capacity (siblings, volunteering, friends, etc.)
- Open daytime availability (weekdays)
Responsibilities
- Engage children in play, reading, arts & crafts, outdoor activities, and hands-on fun in family homes
- Support children's needs in a fast-paced, engaging environment
- Act as a positive and caring role model for children and teens with special needs
Benefits
- Competitive pay of $20 to $24 per hour, plus an additional $3 per hour for each additional sibling
- Consistent placements with families (weekday daytime, afternoons, and/or evenings)
