About The Position

Position Overview The Respite Care Worker provides compassionate, short-term care for individuals with developmental disabilities, offering relief to their primary caregivers. This role is essential in supporting family unity, reducing caregiver stress, and preventing unwanted out-of-home placements. Services may be provided on a planned or emergency basis, directly in the client’s home. Our Mission We are committed to: Supporting family unity and stability Reducing isolation and promoting a normalized life for families Preventing caregiver burnout and potential neglect through compassionate support Keeping individuals with developmental disabilities safely in their homes Eligibility of Clients Clients served by the Respite Care Program are individuals with developmental disabilities who live at home and have a doctor’s certification of their condition. Services are tailored to meet the unique needs of each family.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in caregiving or developmental disabilities preferred
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or in a caregiving role
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly
  • Reliable transportation and proof of valid auto insurance
  • Ability to lift up to 65 pounds safely
  • Must pass a comprehensive drug test , including screening for marijuana and alcohol
  • Must pass a criminal background check with no convictions under Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS)
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries

Responsibilities

  • Deliver safe, attentive, and personalized care to individuals with developmental disabilities in their home environment
  • Support daily living activities, ensuring comfort and well-being
  • Follow care plans and communicate effectively with family members and program coordinators
  • Respond to emergency respite requests with professionalism and urgency
  • Maintain accurate documentation of services provided
  • Promote a normalized, inclusive lifestyle for the individual receiving care
  • Respect family routines, preferences, and cultural values
