About The Position

Nemours is seeking a Respiratory Therapy Supervisor to join our team in Jacksonville, FL. The Respiratory Therapy Supervisor supervises the Respiratory Therapy Staff and manages daily operations. The role coordinates clinical, educational, and research activities related to respiratory care. Oversees patient flow, staff assignments, supplies, and equipment; demonstrates standard precautions and proper handling of bio-hazardous waste. The position focuses on leadership and operational management, respiratory care services and staff coordination and resource management.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree Required
  • Completion of a respiratory therapy or cardiopulmonary program
  • Minimum of 1 year experience required
  • Licensed in the state of Florida as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association is required

Responsibilities

  • Staff Supervision & Management
  • Provide oversight of respiratory therapy staff including:
  • Performance evaluations
  • Disciplinary actions and terminations
  • Salary recommendations
  • Annual job description reviews
  • Maintenance of clinical competencies
  • Verification of current licensure
  • Recruitment & Retention
  • Coordinate interview and hiring processes
  • Oversee onboarding, development, and retention strategies for respiratory staff
  • Education & Training
  • Deliver instruction and training in respiratory care to:
  • Physicians
  • Nurses
  • Other healthcare personnel
  • Administrative Leadership
  • Participate in planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of:
  • Departmental policies and procedures
  • Budgets
  • Operational processes and services
  • Clinical Responsibilities
  • Perform duties of a Respiratory Therapist, including:
  • Age and developmentally appropriate care
  • Pulmonary function, stress, and metabolic testing
  • Patient assessment and monitoring (e.g., pulse oximetry, end tidal CO₂)
  • Specimen collection (e.g., sputum, throat, tracheal aspirates, sweat tests)
  • Patient and family education
  • Equipment quality control and preventive maintenance
  • Supply management for pulmonary function lab
  • Emergency response (e.g., Code Blue)
  • Medication safety and pharmacological knowledge
  • Miscellaneous Duties
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor to support departmental and organizational goals.
