About The Position

The Respiratory Therapy Manager at the Community Hospital is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the respiratory care department. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required and Master's Degree Related Field of Study preferred
  • Basic Life Support [BLS Certification]
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist [RRT] - The National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Respiratory Therapist [Massachusetts License] - Massachusetts Board of Respiratory Care
  • Experience working as a respiratory therapist 3-5 years required
  • Experience in a supervisory or management role 1-2 years required
  • Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology of the respiratory system.
  • Knowledge of respiratory therapy techniques and equipment.
  • Proficiency in performing basic respiratory care interventions such as oxygen therapy and airway management.
  • Ability to perform patient assessments and monitor patient progress.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment and patient issues.
  • Ability to adapt in changing situations and respond appropriately in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise the respiratory therapy staff, including creating work schedules and conducting performance evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with all hospital policies as well as state and federal regulations governing respiratory care.
  • Coordinate respiratory therapy services across various settings, including emergency, peri-operative, inpatient, and outpatient departments.
  • Maintain adequate inventory and oversee the proper functioning of all respiratory equipment.
  • Participate in hospital committees and contribute to quality improvement initiatives designed to enhance patient care and departmental performance.
  • Monitor departmental performance metrics and track patient outcomes to ensure the highest standards of care are met.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize the delivery of respiratory care throughout the hospital.
  • Monitor departmental expenses to ensure they are within the approved operating and capital budgets.
  • Promote cost-effective utilization of resources, including staffing, equipment, and supplies.
