Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference. Job Summary Performs duties necessary to treat patients in accordance with the physician’s order and departmental policy. Works independently in all acute and critical care settings. Consults with physicians and other personnel and makes recommendations on treatment as appropriate. Performs respiratory therapy general and critical care procedures in accordance with the physician’s order, departmental policy, and Respiratory Care guidelines or protocols. Initiates, monitors and manages patients requiring various types of invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. Initiates and manages various types of airways and associated equipment. Obtains blood gasses from sites. Analyzes and reports results. Documents and charges for respiratory care procedures and tasks. Provides patient and family education, as appropriate. Communicates with members of the healthcare team to include students and nurse shadows. Provides an accurate and complete report. Makes recommendations as appropriate. Communicates well with supervisors, coordinators, or those acting in lieu of the above. Adheres to infection control and quality initiatives. Performs appropriate cleaning/disinfection of equipment between patients as indicated by equipment type and isolation status. Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Education - Associate degree. Graduate of a Respiratory Care Program by an accredited school
  • Experience - No experience defined.
  • In Lieu Of In lieu of education and experience noted above, a diploma and/or equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner license in the state in which work is performed.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • BLS NRP, PALS, ACLS, NPS etc. must obtain and maintain certifications as required by work unit.
  • Skills necessary to treat patients of all ages to include neonates, infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
