Requirements

• Current state Respiratory Therapist Licensure.
• Graduate of an AMA-approved School of Respiratory Therapy.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of the various oxygen delivery methods and assessment of patient for appropriate therapy needed.
• Administer respiratory therapy treatments, purpose and side effects associated with each
• Set up and monitor mechanical ventilators, airway management, suctioning, and any other procedure related to ventilator therapy.
• Perform arterial punctures for ABG and technique for analysis along with understanding the complications and contraindications associated with the procedure.
• Performs EKGs, report to appropriate department, and recognize critical that may need immediate treatment.
• Demonstrate ability to assess patients of various ages and determine the appropriate therapy needed.
• Demonstrate knowledge of respiratory medications and oxygen concentrations as they relate to the treatment of varying age patients.
• Manage and operate all equipment necessary for proper patient care.
• Assess patients and be an active participant along with doctors and nurses in the appropriate care of the patients.
