Respiratory Therapist (Outpatient) - Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine - Day Schedule Full Time, Day Shift (80 hours biweekly) Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm General Summary Performs respiratory care modalities according to established standards and practices. Essential Functions: Administers respiratory therapy modalities as per the physician, clinical practice guidelines, and/or clinical pathway; charts treatment, response and progress. Performs patient assessment and develops a comprehensive pulmonary care plan. Modifies therapy to maximize efficacy of the therapy regimen. Collaborates with the physician to manage the initiation, maintenance, and weaning of patients requiring ventilatory support. Maintains active and support communication with the patient regarding progress, problems, home programs and other issues related to the therapeutic process. Provides quality care consistent with appropriate policies and procedures, quality assessment program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Common Expectations: Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s). Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation. Qualifications Minimum Education: Associates Degree Required Work Experience: 1 year Relevant experience. Required Licenses: Registered Respiratory Therapist - NBRC Upon Hire Required and Licensed Respiratory Therapist Upon Hire Required and Basic Life Support Upon Hire Required Courses and Training: Graduate of an accredited program in respiratory therapy.
