About The Position

Under the direction of the Respiratory Care Manager, coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of the overall quality improvement activities and initiatives to maintain compliance with The Joint Commission standards and with hospital and departmental policies, procedures and expectations. Performs staff documentation audits and generates reports for the purposes of evaluating department performance, deficiencies and areas for improvement including all outpatient/ inpatient diagnostic testing. The Quality Improvement Coordinator will work in conjunction with the Respiratory Department Clinical Coordinator and management team to monitor day to day department operations. Provides support and facilitates training to department employees on the Respiratory Information System(s) and Blood Gas policies and procedures. Maintains, organizes and oversees the Blood Gas Laboratory functions ensuring accurate and precise measurement of blood gas samples. Assure the Blood Gas Laboratory policies and procedures, proficiency testing, and preparation of monthly reports meet all department, legal and regulatory requirements for CAP, CLIA and The Joint Commission surveys. Functions as the charge capture specialist for the respiratory and neurodiagnostic departments ensuring proper patient billing is submitted to Revenue Cycle. Maintains the charge description master and ensures proper CPT codes pricing are utilized.

Requirements

  • One (1) year experience in the operation of the Respiratory Care Clinical Information Systems and Blood Gas Laboratory.
  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (RRT).
  • Current Texas Medical Board Respiratory Care License.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP and STABLE certifications must obtain within 90 days.
  • Completion of a two (2) year CoARC approved Respiratory Care program (Associates Degree).
  • Thorough knowledge of Respiratory physiology and ability to practice good judgment in the implementation of clinical comprehensive interventions indicated by the patient status with critical thinking skills for both adults, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
  • Technical skills in a wide variety of hardware, software, and operating systems.
  • Proficient in creative problem solving and strong analytical skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, detailed, analytical, a good troubleshooter and goal oriented.
  • Strong functional and detailed analysis skills with process oriented focus is required.
  • Ability to collaborate with end users, team members, and management in systems projects and Hospital operational issues.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all Employees/customers.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to read and comprehend English at a level necessary to follow written and oral instructions and safety precautions.
