Administers various forms of respiratory therapy in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Respiratory Care Department.

Requirements

  • Must have a student Respiratory Therapy license.
  • Must be enrolled and attending at least a 2-year Respiratory Program and have completed the first year.
  • Must have a competency sign off sheet from the college they are attending.
  • BLS certified

Responsibilities

  • Patient assessment of respiratory status and progression.
  • Provide aerosolized medication treatments as ordered.
  • Provide mucus clearing therapy such as mechanical vest treatment, vibratory PEP therapy, Incentive spirometry, and cough assist.
  • Communication of pertinent information to the patient care team including nurses, physicians, and fellow respiratory therapists.
  • Clean, assemble, and test respiratory equipment such as ventilators, BiPAP machines, and High Flow Nasal Cannulas.
  • Complies with established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
  • Attends variety of meetings, conferences, seminars as required or directed.
  • Demonstrates use of Quality Improvement in daily operations.
  • Complies with all health and safety regulations and requirements.
  • Respects diverse views and approaches, demonstrates Standards of Respect, and contributes to creating and maintaining an environment of professionalism, tolerance, civility and acceptance toward all employees, patients and visitors.
  • Maintains, regular, reliable, and predictable attendance.
  • Performs other similar and related duties as required or directed.
