About The Position

Under general supervision of the Manager of Respiratory Care Operations the Respiratory Shift Lead plays a pivotal role in improving patient access/flow and enhancing safety using clinical expertise, leadership, organizational awareness, and critical thinking skills. Provides clinical and administrative support to team members providing (direct/indirect) care to patients during designated shift, providing coverage 24 hr. a day 7 days a week. Serves as the in-house point of contact for Respiratory staff on shift with responsibility to facilitate intra-departmental shift specific operations and to contact off-site departmental/administrative resources when appropriate.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in respiratory therapy.
  • At least 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience, including managing teams and or projects.
  • Bachelor's in Healthcare, Business Administration, Cardiopulmonary _ or equivalent
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from FL DOH
  • BLS
  • ACL
  • Plus ACCS or NPS or RPFT or CPFT or SDS or AE-C

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day bronchoscopy operations in Endoscopy and Cardiac OR environments.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing, equipment availability, and room readiness for scheduled and emergent cases.
  • Serve as the primary clinical and operational resource for interventional bronchoscopy procedures.
  • Support robotic and advanced bronchoscopy programs across all procedural areas.
  • Collaborate with OR, Endoscopy, Respiratory, and physician teams to optimize case flow and turnover times.
  • Demonstrates ability to assign distributed work assignments to the Respiratory team members on duty and evaluates the work performance of team members supervised.
  • Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
