About The Position

Performs support functions of the Respiratory Care Department. Responsible for decontamination and processing of equipment, stocking supplies and clerical duties of the Respiratory Care Department. Performs equipment processing, to include: disassembly, decontamination and reassembly of respiratory care equipment. Recognizes and takes appropriate action when equipment malfunctions. Delivers and maintains adequate par stock of oxygen cylinders. Maintains stock inventory in the respiratory care department and satellite areas. Performs oxygen rounds and equipment changes under the direct supervision of licensed personnel. Explains equipment procedures to patients and families to elicit cooperation and maximize effectiveness of procedure. Performs support functions that are facility specific ( i.e. patient scheduling, filing, documentation, charges, etc.). May be required to assist with CPR.

Requirements

  • Education: High school or equivalent. Current enrollment in respiratory or other health related curriculum.
  • Experience: One year of patient care experience as a nursing aide, patient care aide, or current enrollment in a health related curriculum.
  • Licensure/Certifications/Registration: None required. Competency validations as appropriate.
  • AHA BLS-HCP required or obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Other Minimum Qualifications: Good interpersonal skills
