What You'll Do Respiratory Care Assistant Administers a variety of simple respiratory modalities such as therapeutic gases, medications, evaluation, treatment, etc. as described in the Respiratory Care policy and procedure manual. Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals to help develop and modify patient care plans. Records treatment and test results in patients' charts when performed Cleans and disinfects respiratory equipment and accessories. Performs related duties such as assisting physicians with special procedures. Responds to Code Blue and Code Trauma. Participates in appropriate continuing education.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled AND have completed at least one year of an accredited Respiratory Care Program.
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED, required.
  • Enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Care Associate Degree program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care; maintains a minimum 2.0 GPA, required.
  • Experience: Completed 1st year of Respiratory Care Associate Degree Program.
  • Demonstrated competencies verified by the educational institution for the procedures defined in the revised declaratory ruling by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board, required.
  • Licensure/Certification: Registration as an RCA with the NC Respiratory Care Board, required.
  • BLS, required.

Nice To Haves

  • ACLS, PALS, NRP; preferred.
