About The Position

Performs a variety of semi-skilled duties and assists in various technical fieldwork associated with the Natural Resources Department. Operates natural resource equipment, including boats, trucks, etc. This position requires the successful applicant to occasionally work weekends, holidays, and after hours. This level is considered to be an entry-level technician. This position is an on-call position; schedule and hours depend on availability of work.

Requirements

  • Associate of Arts Degree in Natural Resources or a closely related field OR High School Diploma/GED and three years of Natural Resources experience or experience in a closely related field OR 4 years of relevant Natural Resources experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral and diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Current Washington State Driver’s License
  • Current Boaters certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in feeding fish, pulling and cleaning nets.
  • Assist with smolt trapping, commercial sampling, and stream surveys.
  • Assist with shellfish field tasks and data collection.
  • Perform other Natural Resource Department duties as required.
