About The Position

Mercy Medical Center Redding is a 266-bed regional medical center providing comprehensive health care services, including Level II trauma, Level III NICU, Advanced Thrombectomy-Capable Stroke Center, cardiovascular care, orthopedics, neurological surgery, cancer care, maternity, and robotic surgery. The hospital's network also includes Mercy Home Health and Hospice and Dignity Health Connected Living. As an RN on the Float/Flex Team, you will be a pivotal healthcare professional, delivering compassionate, high-quality, individualized, and comprehensive care. This role involves making critical assessments, performing skilled procedures, and meticulously implementing patient care plans. You will collaborate within an interdisciplinary team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment focused on optimal patient outcomes. The incumbent is a professional caregiver responsible and accountable for patient assignments, utilizing the nursing process and assisting other healthcare team members in providing holistic care with an awareness of cost containment and time management. This position requires floating to multiple units within the hospital, potentially multiple times per shift, based on skills and competencies determined by the Nursing Supervisor or Staffing Office. Specific units include Pediatrics, Post Partum, Cardiac Telemetry, Neuro Telemetry, Medical Acute, Surgical Acute, Ortho Acute, and Oncology Acute.

Requirements

  • 1-year consecutive recent (within the last five years) Cardiac Telemetry experience or higher level critical unit experience
  • Associates Degree in Nursing
  • Ability to work in diverse areas
  • Current California RN license
  • Current BLS
  • ACLS
  • PALS (must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer if not current)
  • NRP (must be obtained within 6 months of hire/transfer if not current)
  • Verbal and written communication and computer skills

  • Perform routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data
  • Follow the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways, which includes notifying physicians as appropriate
  • Formulate a plan of care for individual needs, including patient population needs
  • Participate in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options)
  • Adapt planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content
  • Integrate education during the delivery of patient care
  • Ensure efficiency in the delivery of care to determine immediate priorities and to offer solutions for problems
  • Make independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for a patient assignment through therapeutic use of self the nursing process and other health care team members
  • Appropriately assist team members in providing holistic care to patients and their support systems with an awareness of cost containment and time management
  • Float to multiple units within the hospital possibly multiple times per shift based upon the incumbent's skills and competencies as determined by the Nursing Supervisor or the Staffing Office (specifically Pediatrics, Post Partum, Cardiac Tele, Neuro Tele, Medical Acute, Surgical Acute, Ortho Acute and Oncology Acute)
