Protection of the installation complex personnel, buildings, equipment, and grounds by performing 100% validation check of all personnel entering the complex. RPO's visually check identification cards before issuing authorized permits for entry on the complex grounds. Vendors, contractors and delivery trucks are compared to work orders and bill of lading before entry is allowed. At higher levels of alert, they must perform physical inspection of vehicles prior to allowing entry onto complex grounds. RPO must maintain a high degree of alertness to protect the complex from espionage, sabotage, fire, theft, pilferage and other acts considered a threat to the security of the Federal and State resources. Since RPO interacts with the public, military personnel and visiting governmental officials, well-developed communication skills are required. The RPO must be able to interpret written guidelines and instructions for resolving common problems, utilize correct radio procedures, and can speak distinctly. RPO must have the ability to work assigned shift or unusual work schedule. Licensed to perform mobile patrol duties of the complex grounds. RPO will investigate on-complex vehicle accidents and thefts. In situations requiring, RPO can perform immediate corrective response action, independently determining the appropriate action. When necessary, administers first aid as a first responder. Must maintain qualification in work performance through on-the-job training, periodic reviews and annual evaluations. RPO will be required to pass written and oral certification test for various post assignments. RPO must also qualify annually on assigned weapons answering telephones, receiving and transmitting radio communications, dispatching patrols and personnel to security situations. RPO must also understand all checklists, surveillance and ESS equipment, be able to quickly assess critical situations, and assign a level of priority for appropriate security response action. Performs physical inspection of all complex doors, to prevent unauthorized access, which will require physical foot patrol in certain areas. Write legible, accurate reports on daily activities, incident reports, and access control logs. Maintain a safe, clean work environment in vehicle and at post. This includes periodic sweeping, mopping, collection and disposal of trash, dusting, and cleaning of windows. Performs other responsibilities to the job class that meet the organization needs, as directed by the Adjutant General.
