About The Position

The Resource Navigator for MGB Youth Programs supports young people and their families in accessing the academic, social, and community-based resources they need to thrive. This position is embedded within the Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers (EMK) and works closely with students, school staff, and community partners to strengthen connections between the classroom, healthcare careers, and supportive resources. This role focuses on building trusting relationships with program participants, understanding their individual needs, and helping them navigate opportunities within Mass General Brigham, local schools, community organizations, and other supportive systems. The Resource Navigator plays a key role in fostering equity, removing barriers, and ensuring that Youth Program participants feel supported in reaching their educational and career goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, social work, public health, or a related field required.
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in place of formal education.
  • 2-3 years of experience in youth development, education, community engagement, or resource navigation required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with youth and families.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal staff and external partners.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills to track student needs and follow through on referrals.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving and supporting the diverse communities of Boston.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, database systems, and comfort with learning new technology tools.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with diverse populations and historically underrepresented communities strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of Boston-area schools, community resources, and youth-serving organizations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake and needs assessments with youth participants to understand academic, social, and personal resource needs.
  • Connect students and families to internal and external resources, including academic supports, career development opportunities, mentorship, health and wellness resources, and community-based services.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Edward M. Kennedy Academy and the MGB Youth Programs team to ensure a smooth onboarding process for participating students.
  • Coordinate and track completion of required paperwork, forms, and documentation to facilitate timely enrollment and participation in Youth Program activities.
  • Serve as a consistent point of contact and advocate for youth and families as they navigate systems of support.
  • Collaborate with Youth Program staff, school partners, and community organizations to coordinate supports and track student progress.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student engagement, resource referrals, and outcomes.
  • Develop and share resource guides, referral lists, and tools to expand access to opportunities.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional development, and program evaluation activities.
  • Promote an inclusive, supportive, and strengths-based environment for all students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
