About The Position

The Resource Family Specialist is responsible for actively recruiting qualified resource family applicants in the community and supporting and encouraging existing resource families through innovative and extraordinary measures that promote cooperation, encouragement, and teamwork.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred in the human service field
  • Eligibility under current PA legal and regulatory requirements
  • Valid PA Driver’s License
  • PA Child Abuse Clearance, PA State Police Clearance, PA FBI Clearance
  • Sensitivity to service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer or desk.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach occasionally throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10–15 pounds (such as files, small office equipment, or supplies).
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment.
  • Ability to read screens, documents, and reports for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in person, over the phone, and via electronic means.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Program Office Supervisor.
  • Learn, understand, accept, and implement agency policy, applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Manage prospective resource family inquiries and contact families in a timely fashion.
  • Introduce families to resource parenting and the policies and practices the agency
  • Prepare required reports and accompanying paperwork in a timely fashion and submit them to the respective supervisor in a completed format.
  • Ensure that all regulatory, and agency, requirements are met by resource families.
  • Manage monthly advertising to recruit families by the needs of the program office.
  • Attend community events to share and educate constituents of the agency’s purpose as well as recruit for prospective resource families.
  • Attend required meetings, conferences, trainings, and other agency functions, as required.
  • Manage work time appropriately, be punctual for appointments, and complete assignments and reports on time.
  • Assist and support resource families in developing relationships that will promote a safe, welcoming environment.
  • Maintain complete, clear, comprehensive, neat, and organized family records in compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Make appropriate written suggestions for improvement in policies, when appropriate.
  • Assure that all necessary measures are taken in preparing and supporting a resource family to provide for the safety and welfare of a child or children as would a parent.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
