About The Position

The Community Resource Center Specialist coordinates daily operations, provides shift oversight, and ensures supportive services for the Resource Center. This role is essential in managing the distribution process, maintaining operational efficiency, and ensuring a positive experience for neighbors. The Specialist supports the Center Manager and contributes to the overall success of pantry operations

Requirements

  • Previous experience in customer service and warehouse/storage and or pantry operations
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to foster positive relationships and work with diverse populations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Demonstrated compassion with clear boundaries in delivering services.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and effectively direct others.
  • Strong mathematical reasoning and interpretation skills for regulations and policies.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to standardized and variable situations.
  • Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and minimum age of 21.
  • English required

Responsibilities

  • Distribution Oversight - Coordinate and oversee daily food distribution, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and smooth operations with the help of staff and volunteers.
  • Neighbor Intake Serve as the primary point of contact for neighbor intake, maintaining the neighbor portal and delivering a high-quality experience. Ensure compliance with state and federal data regulations, and perform tracking and reporting as needed. Welcome neighbors and assist them during their shopping experience
  • Volunteer management - Assist in volunteer recruitment and directly manage volunteer schedules to meet operational needs. Provide training, including system access (e.g., Oasis), and ensure proper logging of volunteer hours. Support volunteer appreciation efforts.
  • Facilities and Inventory Support Inventory - Communicate inventory needs with the Manager and Coordinator, stock shelves, and prepare for food distribution days.
  • Community Partner Support – serve as primary role to ensure that retail and any food donations is pick up by Coordinator, reported as required and ensure that follows all safety standards before transitioning food to pantry.
  • Food Safety - Enforce compliance with food safety standards as defined by relevant authorities (Feeding America, Texas Dept. or Ag, USDA, etc.). Oversee the opening and closing of the Center, reporting facility maintenance needs. Maintain cleanliness and assign cleaning duties to Coordinator and volunteers.
  • Admin and Partnerships Act as the on-site Manager when the Manager is unavailable. Educate neighbors about wrap-around services and ensure materials are accessible. Communicate concerns and ideas to the Manager promptly and professionally. Maintain accurate food pantry records and reports to the manager and promptly submits requested reports or food pantry data to the ETFB. Build relationships with community partners to enhance Center support and visibility. Represent the Center and ETFB programs during community engagement and special projects. Occasionally travel to ETFB HQ or other Resource Centers for additional support. Supports the center budget and contributes to meet operational goals
  • Participate in the organization and implementation of special projects as directed. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and ETFB regulations.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Community Resource Center Manager.
