About The Position

To assist the Credit Union in achieving its Service Mission to deliver Total Member Delight in each and every service interaction with both internal and external members. A key component of this external service is to identify the financial needs of each member and recommend an effective credit union product solution. In addition, to preserve the credit union's assets by controlling delinquent loan accounts, collecting delinquent loan payments and/or recovering collateral.

Requirements

One year to three years of similar or related experience.
A high school education or GED.
Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Prior collections or lending experience is required.

Responsibilities

Contacts delinquent accounts by phone, mail or other means; takes appropriate action to resolve delinquencies and minimize loss to the credit union.
Analyzes financial situation of delinquent borrowers; makes recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful.
Maintains accurate files, reports and notes on all collections activity.
Informs management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged-off loans including future potential losses to the credit union.
Assists with legal proceedings as required including bankruptcy, charge-offs and judgements.
Performs other duties as assigned.
