About The Position

The Residential Life team includes a number of graduate level students serving in an array of different positions throughout the department. These positions offer graduate students the ability to take on a deeper level of responsibility and leadership in a specific area.; ; The IT Graduate Assistant position will work as one of the primary leaders of the department's day-to-day IT support and card access support initiatives, including (but not limited to) IT hardware and software troubleshooting, re-imaging and data backups and inventory management, updating card access groups and individuals as well as troubleshooting card access issues. This position will be supervised by the IT Technology Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (4 years)
  • Indiana State University graduate student enrolled in at least 5 credit hours and has a 3.0 or above GPA.

  • Exceptional customer service navigating inquiries from students, staff, and both internal and external stakeholders on IT projects

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the continuous improvement of IT support processes for Residential Life and Housing Facilities Operations staff
  • Assist with the ongoing improvement of card access support processes for all residents of the residence halls and campus apartments as well as University staff in those buildings
  • Assist with ensuring accurate and up-to-date information regarding computer inventory management, data backups, and tablet maintenance
  • Develop and/or update custom software, SQL queries, StarRez Dashboards, and CS Gold Reports in support of Residential Life processes
  • Coordinate with StarRez and other software vendors' support personnel to research solutions for operational process automation tasks
  • Present on behalf of ResLife IT at unit meetings
  • Provide training to IT Student Desk Managers regarding day-to-day support tasks
  • Align daily IT support practices with DSA values & mission as well as ITIL industry best practices
  • Assist with ResLife IT-related website and intranet development and updates
  • Serve on a departmental committee or collateral assignment
  • Serve in an on-call IT support rotation and respond to urgent situations
  • Other duties as assigned
