About The Position

Performs responsible work providing therapeutic care and direct supervision in the treatment of emotionally/behaviorally-challenged youths ages 11-16 in a therapeutic residential environment at Highridge Family Center. Assists the Residential Counseling Coordinator in a variety of activities. Activities include, but are not limited to, trauma-informed milieu development, using the Sanctuary Model of trauma-informed care, providing psychoeducation on coping skills, facilitating community groups, using conflict resolution and crisis intervention techniques, implementing behavior management/modification, and providing awake care. Consults with members of the treatment team and implements treatment plans as they relate to residents' individual and psycho-social development. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Residential Counseling Coordinator and is reviewed through conferences and reports. This is not a Therapist position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Counseling, Childhood Education/Development, or related behavioral science field; minimum of six (6) months of experience in youth counseling (must specify ages of youth on application).
  • Equivalencies: 1. Unrelated Bachelor's Degree and one (1) year of related experience 2. Associate's Degree and two and a half (2 ½) years of related experience 3. Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and four and a half (4 ½) years of related experience.
  • Must pass a Level 2 background check prior to appointment.
