About The Position

The Residential Supervisor demands vigilance while handling diverse tasks. It plays a vital role in promoting self sufficiency among participants by providing participant services tailored to their identified needs and aligned with the residential program's objectives. In addition to conducting client screenings, this role involves overseeing case planning, supervision, and coordinating activities for residents and visitors, ensuring the maintenance of a safe, clean, and nurturing living environment. The Residential Supervisor supports participants through a human centered and trauma informed approach, in addition they are engaging, culturally responsive and aware of the diverse needs of various cultures, races, ethnicities and populations. This position does not involve supervisory responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social science, psychology or a related field and one (1) year work experience working with young adults, children or families in a social service setting - OR minimum four (4) years of relevant work experience required
  • One (1) year of experience with providing social work practices to individuals and families required
  • Understanding and application of trauma-informed care principles, recognizing the potential impact of trauma on residents and incorporating trauma-sensitive approaches into daily interactions
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills
  • Ability to practice independent judgment, critical thinking and self-regulation skills during high stress situations
  • Work effectively with a wide variety of people and populations by consistently exercising tact and good judgement
  • Work independently and within a team, be flexible, adapt, and manage multiple assignments
  • Ability to work effectively with others in alignment with the YMCA 4 Core Values; Models the 4 Core Values in all aspects of position responsibilities
  • Must be able to work evening and overnight shifts, including weekends and holidays
  • Licensing, state law and our funders require that applicants be fingerprinted, prior to reporting to work, and include subsequent arrest notifications
  • CPR/AED, and First Aid Certification, must include Adult and Child/Infant, within 30 days of hire, and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety and Health Institute
  • Position will require additional clearances in order to comply with all program, licensing, state law, and funding requirements: Negative TB test results obtained within the past one year, prior to first day, and annually thereafter, as required
  • Exclusion and Debarment checks prior to first day and monthly thereafter

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a residential setting, particularly in roles involving direct care and supervision of individuals preferred

Responsibilities

  • Work shifts with sustained alertness, ensuring continuous attentiveness during the entire duration
  • Be prepared to respond to emergencies, including medical situations or behavioral crises, and initiate appropriate protocols
  • Provide direct supervision to residents during shifts, ensuring compliance with program rules and addressing any behavioral issues
  • Employ effective crisis intervention techniques to de-escalate tense situations and ensure the well-being of residents and staff
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of activities, incidents, and any significant interactions with residents
  • Report incidents to the appropriate personnel
  • Communicate relevant information to staff, including updates on resident behavior, incidents, and any emerging issues that may impact the program
  • Foster a positive and supportive environment for residents, encouraging a sense of community and mutual respect
  • Ensure the maintenance of a safe living environment by monitoring, addressing and reporting any safety concerns promptly
  • Coordinate and facilitate activities for residents, promoting a sense of community and contributing to their overall well-being
  • Ensure that YMCA policies & procedures and applicable laws are always adhered to
  • Participate in and attend all required staff meetings, trainings, YMCA staff development events, and appropriate agency-wide committees
