About The Position

YSS is seeking a creative, collaborative, and compassionate Ember Residential Manager for our newly opened Ember Recovery Campus. Ember is an inpatient addiction treatment program providing trauma-informed services to adolescents and young adults, including residential care, mental health support, crisis stabilization, and shelter services. This is more than a management role — it’s an opportunity to help shape a healing environment where youth in crisis are valued, supported, and empowered to stand strong. The Ember Residential Manager assists in the daily management of the Ember program, ensuring a safe, stable, and supportive residential environment. This leader supervises multiple team members, supports program operations, promotes program integrity, and ensures compliance with licensure, contract, grant, and accreditation standards. The Manager works in close partnership with the Campus Director, medical and clinical teams, and direct care staff to uphold best-in-practice, trauma-informed service delivery.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience in residential, behavioral health, or human services settings
  • Strong organizational and documentation oversight skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining regulatory compliance

  • A collaborative spirit and the ability to build trust across teams
  • Bachelor’s in a human services related field and four (4) years experience, which includes direct supervision of multiple employees.
  • OR Seven (7) years of experience, which includes direct supervision of multiple employees.
  • Knowledge and understanding of: the needs of young people experiencing addiction and the interventions available to address these need, the connection between trauma and substance use/abuse. child and youth development, group dynamics, basic counseling skills and an ability to implement appropriate interventions. the required standards and guidelines for residential care (IDPH, HHS, DIA, CARF, etc.)
  • Travel, including transporting clients, is required for this position.
  • For YSS insurance purposes, you must: be 21 years of age, have a current, valid, state-issued, driver’s license, and have a clean driving record.

  • Experience with Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) and the ability to implement TIC principles.

  • Skilled in verbal and non-verbal communication, with strong observation, listening, speaking, and writing abilities.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills, navigating multiple systems, and operating in a Microsoft Windows environment.
  • Leads by example, acting as a role model for residents, demonstrating honesty, ethical behavior, and guiding them through their recovery journey.
  • Demonstrates genuine empathy, compassion, and a strong commitment to the well-being and success of others.
  • Speaks a language(s) in addition to English.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise, train, support, and develop: Operations Coordinator Day & Overnight Recovery Specialists Recovery Leads
  • Participate in hiring, evaluations, corrective action, and status changes in collaboration with the Campus Director
  • Establish and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate ratios and staffing patterns
  • Participate in the Supervisory On-Call Rotation
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and therapeutic residential environment
  • Conduct monthly fire and tornado drills
  • Instruct clients on fire and health regulations
  • Submit and follow up on work orders as needed
  • Ensure compliance with: Federal and state confidentiality/privacy regulations Licensure, certification, and accreditation standards
  • Oversee client documentation, group notes, and timely review of Incident Reports
  • Ensure client files contain all required documentation
  • Review program budget as necessary
  • Manage receipts, purchase cards, and program-related expenses
  • Partner with medical and clinical teams to support best-in-practice care
  • Communicate with prescribing professionals and pharmacies to ensure: Accurate medication fulfillment Secured payment processes
  • Review medication documentation for accuracy and follow up on errors
  • Ensure medications are stored properly and discontinued medications are destroyed appropriately
