About The Position

The Residential Service Technician I is primarily responsible for pinpointing paths of wires, pipes, and other conduits that carry utilities underground. This position also assists with the installation, repair, and maintenance of telecommunication and broadband services.

Requirements

• Must have a valid California driver license and favorable DMV record.
• High School diploma or equivalent; a college degree is desirable.
• Must comply with all company policies and safety procedures.
• Basic computer keyboard and software skills (Excel, Word, and other applications).
• Telecommunications wiring color code competency.
• General knowledge of Outside Plant construction desired.
• Actively participate in a team environment and practice the "Corporate and Spirit of 46 values".
• Must be available to work overtime and assume on-call duties as required.
• Maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance.
• Maintain a clean and properly equipped vehicle.
• Must be able to climb ladders, sit, bend, stoop, stand or walk for extended periods.
• Must be available to work overtime, varied shifts and assume on-call duties as required.
• Ability to work in temperature extremes ranging from +20o to +105o Fahrenheit.
• Ability to lift and/or pull up to 120 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• college degree is desirable.
• General knowledge of Outside Plant construction desired.

Responsibilities

• Locate and mark underground copper and fiber optic cable and conduit
• Maintain and update customer location information in the USA ticket management system
• Communicates with contractors/property owners regarding property locates
• Assists with new telecommunication and broadband service installations
• Assist with testing, troubleshooting and repair of telecommunication and broadband services
• Assist with inside wire and ONT installation and trouble shooting
• Assist with maintenance of telecommunication and broadband infrastructure
• Assist outside plant technicians and other departments as needed
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary.
