About The Position

Model Remodel, a Seattle-based general contractor specializing in high-quality residential remodeling, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team. This role is ideal for a seasoned estimating professional who enjoys collaborating with designers, sales, and production teams to shape projects from early concept through construction. We’re looking for someone who is detail‑driven, organized, and confident in their technical expertise, with a clear understanding that a well‑developed estimate is the foundation of a successful project and a great client experience. Job Description: The Estimator at Model Remodel is responsible for developing accurate, detailed cost estimates that reflect project scope, client goals, and company profitability targets. Estimates range from early conceptual and rough-order-of-magnitude pricing through fully developed construction estimates. This role works closely with Sales Representatives, designers, and production staff to support informed decision-making, value engineering, and a smooth transition from preconstruction to construction. The Estimator plays a key role in setting projects up for success by balancing accuracy, clarity, and collaboration to support great outcomes for clients and the internal team.

Requirements

  • 5–10 years of experience estimating residential remodeling projects, preferably in high-end or custom home renovation.
  • Strong knowledge of residential construction methods, materials, and sequencing.
  • Proven ability to prepare accurate estimates at multiple stages, from conceptual pricing through detailed construction budgets.
  • Proficiency reviewing and interpreting architectural drawings, specifications, and site conditions.
  • Demonstrated experience performing quantity takeoffs and evaluating subcontractor and vendor proposals for scope and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 Suite is required.
  • Ability to support value engineering and clearly communicate cost impacts of design or scope changes.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical skills and the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
  • Collaborative communicator who works effectively with Sales Representatives, designers, and production teams.
  • Commitment to professionalism, accuracy, and continuous improvement of estimating practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Frequent standing, walking, and sitting.
  • Ability to navigate uneven terrain, stairs, and confined spaces.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to work at a computer or desk area for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to use a computer and see color.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Green/sustainable building experience a plus.
  • Experience with construction project management software such as Construction Online, Buildertrend, Procore, or similar platforms is preferred.
