About The Position

Oversight of everyday functioning of an Individualized Residential Alternative (IRA). Responsible for employee training and support; consumer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, fiscal responsibility, and overall program operations. The Residential Manager will monitor and supervise the Assistant Residential Manager and Direct Support Professionals assigned to the facility and engage in ongoing collaboration with resident families and other service providers.

Requirements

Education: High School Diploma/ GED required. Degree in Human Services preferred (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, etc.).
Credentials: Possesses a valid NY State Driver’s License and a Driver’s record considered acceptable by the agency and insurance carrier.
Experience: At least 1 year working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities required. At least 1 year of supervisory experience required. A combination of education and experience may be substituted at the discretion of the Vice President of I/DD Services.
Demonstrate ethical business practices, in conformance with all state and federal laws and regulations.
Able to function independently with minimum supervision.
Able to use good professional judgement in ongoing decision-making.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Previous experience working with diverse populations, including low to moderate-income families.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize duties.
Ability to travel in all weather conditions throughout the counties served.
Willingness to foster agency, department and program wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive/constructive communication techniques.
Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality in regard to all records reviewed including consumer records, employee records and billing records.
Proficiency and experience with PC’s and Microsoft applications.
Ability to analyze and interpret data and to handle problem resolution.
Continuous use of a reliable, registered, and insured vehicle.
Demonstrate full adherence to the CCFCS Code of Conduct and all policies/procedures related to compliance.
Demonstrate commitment to Agency Mission Statement.
Provide effective, equitable, understandable, and respectful quality care and services that are responsive to diverse cultural health beliefs and practices, preferred languages, health literacy and other communication needs.

Responsibilities

Oversees Residential Habilitation Services for each resident including concepts of integration, independence, individualization, and productivity.
Oversees the overall budget for residence operations and assumes fiscal accountability of all expenditures including individuals’ expenditures.
Maintains continuity of all individuals’ records including but not limited to residential habilitation, medical, behavioral, financial, fire safety, individual plans of service and protective oversight plans.
Provides assistance and support to all individuals with acquisition, retention, or improvement in skills related to fire evacuation, in accordance with the fire safety code of the residence. Maintain and update fire safety records for all individuals.
Responds with appropriate actions to crisis situations and medical emergencies.
Ensures all aspects of medication administration are done accurately and provide medication administration as needed.
Assesses all medically related situations involving individual(s) as they occur, contact the on-call RN when necessary and ensure all recommendations given by RN are properly followed and documented.
Arrange and/or provide transportation to individuals as needed and oversee record keeping of mileage and vehicle maintenance.
Supervises all staff, as assigned, including but not limited to all aspects of hiring, evaluating, and promoting ongoing staff development. Prompt recognition and feedback to staff on job performance.
Maintains work schedule of all staff, ensures adequate staff coverage, and provides emergency direct care services, if necessary. Maintains staff time-off requests, reviews and submits approval for time sheets/cards.
Promotes and encourage team building within the work site assigned.
Ensures appropriate training and submits documentation of training for records for each employee (supervised).
Provides staff training and development through classroom and one on one teaching, acting as a role model and guiding staff on how to appropriately work with and interact with residents, other staff, families, guardians, and other service providers.
For training they provide directly, submits employee training records and/or sign in sheet(s) to QM and /or HR.
Schedule and facilitate staff meetings.
Attend/chair as needed management meetings, ensure dissemination of all information to staff and others,
Attend mandatory training,
Coordinate and or attend resident related meetings (ISP, house, family, etc.) ensure all necessary follow up is completed.
Participate in special projects and committees.
Participates in external and internal audits and ensure compliance of all applicable local, state and federal regulations and agency policies.
Ensure completion/submission of all required reports as scheduled.
Routinely review all required reports, logs, mail, etc. as needed, maintaining an organized filing system.
Coordinate all aspects of program financial procedures including but not limited to grocery shopping, vehicle maintenance, house maintenance and repairs in accordance with DD policies and procedures.
Ensure the proper and prudent expenditures of all funds.
Oversee the facilities’ general inventory and stock items for the residence including food, household supplies and individuals’ medications. Ensures invoices are submitted to Finance Office as per policy and procedure.
Monitor the residence to ensure it is adequately maintained and all hazardous conditions are reported and repaired in a timely fashion.
Oversee and approve staff mileage.
Ensure routine vehicle maintenance of agency vehicle.
Participate in "manager on-call" responsibilities on a rotating basis with other Management staff, providing 24-hour accessibility.
Comply and cooperate with internal and or outside staff during any inspection or investigation
Maintains up to date professional knowledge through reading, workshops and conferences.

Assists with the planning and implementation of community events and cross trainings
