About The Position

The Residential Manager supports the daily operations of the residential program to ensure the safety, compliance, and effective delivery of services for youth in care. This role works collaboratively with the Residential, Direct Care, Administrative, and Development teams to coordinate staffing, maintain regulatory compliance, support licensing and accreditation requirements, and oversee program logistics. The position also assists with donor and volunteer events connected to the residential program and provides operational support for staffing and program needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work or in a related area of study and two years of experience working with children; or
  • Two years of college and three years of experience working with children; or
  • Five years of experience working in child welfare without a post-secondary degree required.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and follow through on assignments.
  • Strong teamwork skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts for assigned houses, as needed (24/7 on-call expectation).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience working with at-risk children or youth.
  • Ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgment, and de-escalate stressful situations.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Professional demeanor and cultural sensitivity when working with children, families, staff, and external partners.
  • Employees are required to complete all mandatory onboarding and annual training requirements, including training related to trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and regulatory compliance.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of supervisory experience is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of the principles of Trauma Informed Care is preferred.
  • Preferred case management experience.
  • General knowledge of child welfare systems, residential care, or non-profit environments, preferred.
  • Experience using SharePoint or similar document management systems, preferred.
  • Training or experience in de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention preferred.
  • Familiarity with trauma-informed care principles, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision and guidance to Unit Supervisors to ensure effective program implementation and staff support.
  • Provide indirect oversight of Direct Care staff to ensure consistent application of policies, procedures, and care standards.
  • Maintain legal staffing ratios across residential homes by coordinating staff placement, assisting with transportation logistics, and providing coverage support when needed.
  • Work in conjunction with program leadership and staff to ensure services and placement remain appropriate for each child in care.
  • Provide oversight and support for Direct Care staff scheduling to ensure adequate coverage across residential homes.
  • Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to address staffing emergencies or scheduling issues.
  • Collaborate with the Scheduling and Training Manager to assess staffing patterns and support scheduling needs.
  • Assist Unit Supervisors in coordinating staff coverage and operational needs during absences or program demands.
  • Oversee inventory control for household and program-related items across residential homes.
  • Coordinate purchasing of in-house items and supplies needed to support daily residential operations.
  • Ensure inventory levels and supply systems are maintained to meet program needs.
  • Support organizational compliance with regulatory requirements related to residential programming.
  • Participate in accreditation preparation and compliance efforts related to CARF standards.
  • Oversee coordination of the annual licensing process with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and Community-Based Care (CBC) agencies.
  • Maintain and update program-related policies and procedures for review and approval by the Program Director.
  • Assist in training employees on direct care policies, procedures, and program expectations.
  • Support Unit Supervisors in reinforcing program standards and operational procedures among Direct Care staff.
  • Help ensure staff understand compliance requirements and operational expectations.
  • Assist with coordination and communications with lead agencies that provide services to youth transitioning out of care (post-18 services).
  • Support planning and coordination of on- and off-campus donor or volunteer events involving the residential program by coordinating staff, activities, logistics, and scheduling in collaboration with internal teams.
  • Be available on an on-call basis to assist with facility admissions, emergencies, or urgent operational needs.
  • Provide leadership support during critical incidents to ensure safety, compliance, and program continuity.
  • Other duties as assigned.
