About The Position

Amentum is seeking a Residential General Construction Technician in the Williamsburg VA. The Residential General Construction Technician plays a critical role in performing a variety of skilled operations to maintain, repair, and enhance residential properties. This versatile role requires proficiency in multiple trades, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and electrical, to ensure properties are safe, functional, and visually appealing. The role demands a combination of hands-on expertise, adaptability, and attention to detail to meet a broad spectrum of maintenance service needs. General Maintenance & Repairs: Perform general maintenance tasks for residential properties, including repairing drywall, doors, windows, and flooring. Troubleshoot, repair, and replace fixtures and systems such as faucets, toilets, light switches, and electrical outlets. Carpentry: Execute rough and finish carpentry projects, including framing, siding, roofing, cabinet repair, and trim work. Build, install, and repair interior and exterior structures such as fences, decks, and stairs. Painting & Finishing: Patch and prepare surfaces for painting; apply interior and exterior paint or finishes to walls, ceilings, and trim. Maintain surface finishes, including staining and varnishing woodwork where needed. Plumbing: Repair or replace plumbing fixtures, pipes, and water supply lines. Perform maintenance on water heaters, drainage systems, and other plumbing infrastructure. Electrical Work: Conduct basic electrical system troubleshooting and repairs, such as installing light fixtures, outlets, or switches. Ensure all electrical work complies with applicable safety standards and codes. Preventive Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and carry out preventive maintenance on residential systems and equipment to avoid costly repairs. Complete property condition assessments and identify areas needing immediate or future attention. Safety & Compliance: Ensure all work adheres to local building codes, safety regulations, and company policies. Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and execute Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures when required. Equipment & Tool Operation: Operate and maintain a variety of power tools, hand tools, and equipment used in construction and maintenance tasks. Drive company vehicles to transport materials and move between job sites as necessary. Administrative & Planning: Keep detailed records of work orders, job progress, and material usage. Practice accurate time keeping for each residential project. Technical Skills: Comprehensive knowledge of residential construction practices, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic electrical systems. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, construction plans, and technical manuals. Familiarity with the use of modern diagnostic tools and equipment. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift 35–50 lbs, climb stairs and ladders, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods. Comfortable working in confined spaces, on rooftops, and in varying environmental conditions. Availability: Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required. On-call availability for emergency repairs and maintenance needs.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Driver’s License (Real ID)
  • Comprehensive knowledge of residential construction practices, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and basic electrical systems.
  • Must be able to lift 35–50 lbs, climb stairs and ladders, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in confined spaces, on rooftops, and in varying environmental conditions.
  • Willingness to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • On-call availability for emergency repairs and maintenance needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or license in any relevant trade (e.g., journeyman carpenter, painter, plumber, or electrician).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in residential construction or property maintenance.
  • Proficiency in handling multiple maintenance requests simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of local building codes and regulations.
  • Current active security clearance or willing to obtain
