About The Position

The Entry-Level Flooring Sales Consultant supports mid- to high-end residential customers through a consultative flooring sales experience in both the showroom and customers’ homes. This role focuses on learning premium flooring products, delivering a polished and professional customer experience, and accurately documenting job details, measurements, and quotes using the company's flooring and sales systems. This position is well-suited for individuals interested in developing a long-term career in residential design, home improvement, or specialty retail sales.

Requirements

  • Entry-level role; previous experience in customer service, retail, design, or home improvement is a plus
  • Strong interest in residential flooring, interior design, or construction-related sales
  • Willingness to learn premium flooring materials, installation standards, and measurement techniques
  • Professional communication skills and attention to detail
  • Comfort using computers and learning specialized flooring and sales software
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Ability to travel locally to customer homes
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods in a showroom setting
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and take detailed measurements in residential spaces
  • Flexible schedule, including possible evenings or weekends to meet client needs

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and assist residential customers in a professional, design-focused showroom environment
  • Learn to guide customers through mid- to high-end flooring options, including hardwood, luxury vinyl, waterproof flooring, carpet, and other custom solutions
  • Communicate product features, design considerations, quality differences, and installation expectations
  • Support senior sales consultants and the leadership team while developing consultative selling skills
  • Travel to customer homes to perform flooring measurements after training
  • Observe and learn how to evaluate site conditions, subfloors, transitions, and installation complexity
  • Maintain a professional and respectful presence in customers’ homes
  • Collect detailed measurements, photos, and project notes for accurate quoting
  • Learn and consistently use company's flooring and sales systems to:
  • Enter and maintain customer profiles
  • Document measurements, job scope, and design preferences
  • Prepare detailed quotes reflecting materials, labor, and job costs
  • Track project status from quote through completion
  • Ensure accuracy and attention to detail appropriate for high-value residential projects
  • Deliver a polished, service-oriented experience aligned with mid- to high-end residential expectations
  • Communicate clearly, promptly, and professionally with customers and internal teams
  • Assist in resolving questions or concerns with guidance from senior staff
