About The Position

Immediate full and part-time Residential Associate positions are available supporting adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) at our group homes in Spring Hill and Brooksville. Afternoon, overnight and/or weekend shifts available including: Friday 2p-10p or 10p-10a; Sat. 10a-10p. Current pay is $15 per hour. The Arc Nature Coast is a non-profit organization that provides individually tailored quality supports and advocacy for individuals with disabilities and their families, to promote their self-determination and inclusion in community life throughout their lifetime. You will support our customers with IDD in a small, home-like residential setting. Support includes coaching in socialization, personal hygiene, homemaking, daily living skills and other individual goals. Your work as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) will make a difference in someone's life. The life skills training and supervision you provide will assist customers who have physical, intellectual or behavioral challenges in meeting their goals for personal growth and independence both in their homes and in the community. Requirements

  • Valid Florida driver license and clean driving record
  • Minimum age of 21 with minimum 3 years' driving experience
  • Minimum 1 year experience with individuals with IDD or related field of nursing, education, social, behavioral or rehabilitative services
  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
  • Pass Level 2 and Local background screenings and drug test
  • Possess English language skills in reading, comprehension, writing and speaking
  • Be reliable, self-motivated and a team player
  • Ability to think quickly and act calmly in an emergency
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • Possess physical stamina required to help individuals ambulate
  • We do local and federal background checks, drug screening and driving record checks.

Responsibilities

  • Uphold and protect the rights of all individuals, always demonstrating patience and compassion
  • Maintain health and safety of all individuals
  • Teach residents how to adopt basic independent living skills
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living if needed including bathing, basic hygiene, feeding, toileting, grooming and ambulation
  • Teach and assist with social skills including a variety of community activities
  • Assist with light cleaning, housework and laundry
  • Prepare meals that adhere to special dietary considerations
  • Be a team player
