About The Position

SOME Inc. exists to help the homeless and poor of Washington, DC. With over 30 programs throughout the District of Columbia, we provide a wide spectrum of services to the most vulnerable individuals and families of our city. Compensation: We offer our employees a competitive compensation and benefits package that reflects our organizational culture, mission, and core values. The hourly range for this position is $17.95 - $19.00 and may be commensurate with experience. SOME Inc. is currently seeking a part-time Residential Assistant to join our Transitional Housing department, Leland Place location. Schedule: Saturdays 12:00 pm - 12:00 am. (12 hours per week) Position Description: Provides monitoring and oversight for the health and safety of housing facility and residents

Requirements

  • HS/GED
  • 3-5 yrs experience in social services
  • experience providing services in addictions or mental health treatment
  • CPR/First Aid
  • Driver's License
  • Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health issues
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Relationship building skills
  • Ability to maintain calm in stressful situations
  • Organized with an attention to detail
  • Time management skills
  • Ability to communicate with diverse audiences
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility with the ability to multi-task despite competing priorities
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently
  • Ability to set professional boundaries
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Requires looking at a computer screen for several hours a day.
  • May be required to sit for long periods.
