About The Position

Residential Advisor : The CooperRiis at Asheville (CRA) Residential Advisor’s duties and responsibilities include assisting residents with integration into the CooperRiis therapeutic community. Residential Advisors support residents’ recovery by building authentic, professional relationships and helping residents restore a sense of engagement, productivity, and contribution. Residential Advisors create and maintain a safe and supportive evening and weekend environment with planned activities and supportive check-ins that benefit the residents’ recovery experience. The Residential Advisor’s primary task is to ensure the fulfillment of CooperRiis’ mission by assisting residents in meeting the goals defined in their individual Recovery Plan.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience working with individuals whose lives are impeded by mental illness
21 years or older with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record to be on organization’s auto insurance

Responsibilities

Provides relationship-oriented coaching and support to residents and attaining their goals
Assures the health and safety of resident and responds immediately to concerns and completes check-ins
Participates and encourages participation of residents in recreational, social, and cultural activities
Facilitates spontaneous social experiences for residents who are not participating in scheduled activities
Supports residents with room cleaning and helps out in general with the cleaning of common areas of the building
Transports residents to scheduled appointments as needed
Is a first responder for on-call services in the evening hours
Responsible for documentation for assigned residents
