About The Position

The Resident Technician is responsible for performing, with minimal supervision, the full maintenance, diagnosis and service repair at a customer's site or in a field environment on products and heavy equipment serviced by NMC. You'll work independently driving in a company provided service truck to the customer's place of operations Monday thru Friday, but you'll always have the support of the entire NMC team. In addition, this job assists in developing and maintaining proper business relationships with customers by creating a trusting relationship thereby promoting customer retention and loyalty. The Resident Technician removes, installs, repairs, disassembles, assembles, performs failure analyses of all equipment including engines, attachments, electrical systems, hydraulics, transmissions, power train, brakes, steering, and electronic and computer applications. Responsibilities

  • Complete diagnostics, troubleshooting, and appropriate repairs and rebuilds on Caterpillar equipment in a remote field environment with little to no supervision.
  • Reference and interpret service, parts, and diagnostic software to determine problems/malfunctions and to verify repair specifications and parts needed.
  • Meets time requirement guidelines (TRG) standards. Escalate unresolved issues to Technical Communicators for further research and assistance.
  • Accomplish repair by following parts ordering process, completing service reports, and giving appropriate verbal or written communication in email or service reports.
