The Resident Monitor position is part-time and involves monitoring the activity of residents on an assigned shift to ensure safety, security, and compliance with house rules. The role requires maintaining accurate and complete records and logs, and ensuring the housing facility is kept neat and proper. The monitor serves as an example of grace and encouragement to Emergency Refuge residents, completing intake paperwork and keypunching information into the HMIS database. Responsibilities include preparing rooms for residents, checking fire equipment, distributing linens and hygiene items, and securing/providing access to medications. The monitor continuously monitors resident activities, checks facility security (windows, doors, cameras), conducts periodic rounds, and records unique situations. They are expected to respond to emergencies calmly, initiating corrective action for development rather than punishment. The role also involves opening and closing house doors, assigning and ensuring completion of resident housekeeping tasks, and conducting campus security checks with responsive action and logging. Additionally, the monitor conducts breath alcohol checks and property inspections for compliance, answers telephones regarding housing operations, wakes clients, ensures their departure by designated times, and issues meal tickets. The individual must represent The Salvation Army with patience and encouragement. Other duties include collecting and washing dirty towels and sheets, cleaning and mopping lobby, hall, and office areas, and emptying/replacing trash liners.
