The Resident Hall Director provides leadership and direction for a residential community at the university. The Hall Director is responsible for fostering a safe, inclusive, and vibrant living-learning environment that promotes student success, personal development, and academic engagement. This position plays a key role in student conduct, crisis management, supervision of student staff, and implementation of campus-wide initiatives related to housing, wellness, and community development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Ability to live in university-provided housing as a condition of employment.
  • Evening and weekend hours required.
  • Must be available for on-call duty rotation and emergency response 24/7 when scheduled.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary resource for students regarding university policies, conflict resolution, and personal concerns.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate Resident Assistants (RAs) and other student leaders within the residence hall.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings and professional development opportunities for student staff.
  • Enforce university housing policies and address student behavioral concerns through educational and restorative practices.
  • Respond to and manage crises, emergencies, and student wellness situations in collaboration with Campus Safety and Counseling Services.
  • Serve as a conduct hearing officer as assigned.
  • Manage administrative responsibilities including occupancy reports, room changes, and maintenance requests.
  • Coordinate hall opening, closing, and inspection processes.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit reports as required by the Office of Residence Life.
  • Partner with academic departments, student support services, and other university departments to enhance residential student success.
  • Support campus-wide programs such as Orientation, Homecoming, and Wellness Week.
