About The Position

This position will oversee the management of the residency and clerkship programs within the Division of Orthopedic Surgery. This individual role is responsible to the Residency Program Director for managing the functions of the orthopedic surgery residency program; managing administrative efforts of the program, including reaccreditation, curriculum development, policy and planning, recruitment and onboarding, and budgets; overseeing the daily functions of the program; acting as a liaison between residents, administration, faculty, various departments, department Chair, and Program Director, and performing other related duties as assigned. This individual role is also responsible to the Medical Education Rotation Director for coordinating the Medical School Senior Course Elective and Selective rotations and Visiting Student rotations. This individual role is responsible for coordinating the functions of all clerkship rotations within the division: on-boarding, including application screening, credentialing, requirements for individual sites, orientation, scheduling, and evaluations.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of ACGME, AOA, AAOS, AOBOS, ABOS, NRMP, ERAS, USMLE, ECFMG policies, practices, guidelines, and established procedures.
  • Knowledge of the medical education of medical students and residents.
  • Knowledge of basic principles of management.
  • Knowledge of the University’s Board of Trustees policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of the academic and administrative structure of an institution of higher education.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and policies.
  • Knowledge of university, medical school, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of requirements for maintenance of ACGME accreditation compliance.
  • Knowledge of health care administration and graduate/post-graduate medical education.
  • Knowledge of the scope of the medical field, credentialing, licensure, practice management, confidentiality, and medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of significant computer skills with the ability to understand and administer database technology.
  • Ability to generate and appropriately manage program budgets.
  • Ability to create, use, and understand data collected in spreadsheets and similar systems.
  • Ability to conceptualize, solve problems, make decisions, and accept responsibility.
  • Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, direct, and evaluate policies and procedures.
  • Ability to apply skills in accomplishing goals and objectives.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism with all associated duties.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to interact with a variety of people.
  • Ability to work independently of supervision, but also work as part of a team.
  • Ability to and experience in independent prioritization of work and delegation.
  • Knowledge of significant computer skills with the ability to understand and administer database technology.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadline,s and work effectively under pressure.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and related managerial experience; OR
  • Associate’s degree in a relevant field or two years of college coursework, plus three (3) years of related work experience, which includes at least one (1) year of managerial experience; OR
  • Four (4) years of related work experience, which includes at least two (2) years of managerial experience.
