About The Position

Our Residence Life Staff are responsible for managing communities through staff supervision (professional and paraprofessional), advising, training, and serving on a rotating on-call 24 hour, 365-day crisis response. Residence Life Coordinators adjudicate low to high level conduct cases and respond to a variety of crisis situations. RLCs will have opportunities to increase professional skills through leading academic initiatives and student learning opportunities, high conduct caseloads, supervision, and campus involvement. Each RLC has the same core areas of their role, but will also get the opportunity to work with specialized residential communities within the halls based on specific building placement, such as work with Living Learning Communities, first-year students in high-rise towers, desk supervision and large-scale programming, upper-year students, and more based on your professional interests! This position is a fixed-renewable non-teaching academic staff appointment with a competitive salary and benefits package. Starting salary for this appointment is at least $44,460 as well as a partially furnished apartment, and designated parking space. The final salary offer is dependent upon the finalist’s experience and qualifications. Professional development fund support is also provided based on departmental budget availability in a given fiscal year. Amounts may vary by year. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation
  • Previous live-in professional experience with a residence life or university housing department on a university or college campus

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s degree in College Student Development, Higher Education Administration or closely related field by the date of hire
  • Previous experience supervising student employees
  • Experience performing on-call crisis and duty response within a university residential setting
  • Adjudication of low-level student conduct and/or student behavior issues (e.g., noise complaints, roommate conflicts, alcohol, etc.)
  • Experience working with a diverse student population or shown participation in learning about a variety of student identities (race, sexuality, socioeconomic status, religion, first generation status, etc.)
  • Experience with educational programming or working with High Impact Practices, such as Living Learning Communities, First-year experiences, experiential learning, etc.
  • Evidence of the ability to work collaboratively through team leadership or committee involvement

Responsibilities

  • May supervise the day-to-day activities of students and/or professional staff and assist with the personnel management allocation plan including hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation
  • Serves as a main point of contact for resident support providing mediation and resolution of personal and facility issues
  • Plans, implements, and evaluates student programs and initiatives for residence life
  • Receives and responds to crisis and student conduct situations according to established policies and procedures
