UAM, one of twenty campuses of the University of Arkansas System, is located in southeastern Arkansas in the beautiful timberlands, rich in outdoor recreation activities, and approximately 100 miles south of Little Rock. UAM is a comprehensive, residential and commuter, undergraduate institution also offering selected master’s degree programs. The Residence Hall Specialist is supervised by the Director of Residence Life, and is a full-time professional staff member of the Department of Residence Life. The Residence Hall Specialist supports the student experience by leading the planning and implementation of a robust residential experience. The Residence Hall Specialist is responsible for the selection, training, mentoring, supervision, and evaluation of up to 15 student Resident Assistants and assists in the development and management of safe and inclusive communities where students can fully engage with both living and learning experiences. The Residence Hall Specialist will accomplish this through engagement planning and implementation, student support, student conduct education, student staff supervision and coaching, crisis response and management, and administrative work. The Residence Hall Specialist is a 12-month, 40-hour per week, live-in staff position that will require evening and weekend engagement and commitments. This position serves on a 24/7 on-call rotation providing crisis response to all residence halls on campus. The Residence Hall Specialist is responsible for the daily operation and management of assigned area. Duties will include but not limited to administering student residence occupancy programs, interpreting residential hall policies, and providing guidance for students in residence halls. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy.
