This position is responsible for assisting in integrating research goals, strategies, objectives, and metrics for the GU research community by providing project management, development, and consulting for research IT projects and resources within the domain of the Research Technologies division of UIS. Position will manage and support IT requirements of new and existing research projects in higher education fields, including but not exclusive to chemistry, physics, biology, genomics, and bioinformatics. Incumbent will assure that baseline research technologies run effectively; and follow regulatory, compliance, data, and storage best practices. Helping the community identify and adopt emerging and enriched research IT resources is an important aspect of this position, as is helping the Research Technologies team develop strong customer relations and partnerships to enhance research and grant funding. They will support external data acquisition by acting as a liaison between researchers, JORA and UIS. This role will act as a consultant for researchers looking for the right technology supported by UIS for their research needs. They will gather the research project requirements and match solutions to their budget. As part of this process they will work with JORA during the early grant application phase to support the budget requests of grants. Finally, through interactions with research consortiums and their own research they will provide recommendations of research technology that UIS and GU should adopt for researchers. This position will work closely with both GU and GUMC faculty as well as key members of UIS on behalf of the research community. Incumbent will serve as a Research Technologies “Expert Resource” for internal and selected external research collaborations.
