About The Position

This position will be headquartered on the OSU College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) Wooster campus. The Research Technician will work closely with members of the tree fruit group in the Department of Horticulture and Crop Science, particularly the apple program. The position is a full-time term (less than 3-year assignment) position that will include staff benefits. Responsibilities will include the following:

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED & 1 year of demonstrated experience in work in field and greenhouse, and propagation

Nice To Haves

• BS or equivalent degree in horticulture or related field
• 2-4 years of demonstrated experience in work in field and greenhouse and propagation

Responsibilities

• Executes planned research activities using observation, measurement and analytical techniques in greenhouse
• prepares research log sheets and maintains records in in greenhouse, and orchard
• enters, consolidates, and tabulates research data for analysis
• performs library research on specified topics
• performs propagation of plant material, harvest fruit, and pollen, and perform general plant maintenance activities.
