About The Position

The Research Technician assists laboratory personnel and research staff in the execution and documentation of experiments and research activities. This position supports ongoing research projects in the Leuner laboratory related to the effects of adolescent traumatic brain injury (TBI) on brain and behavior. Responsibilities include assisting with behavioral testing on animal models, preparing and processing biological samples, and supporting molecular and biochemical assays such as quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and immunohistochemistry. The Research Technician performs routine research tasks under general supervision, including preparing solutions and reagents, conducting microscopic data analysis using established methods, and maintaining accurate lab records. This role follows established protocols and procedures, applies standard techniques to complete assignments, and provides general support to ensure efficient research operations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience supporting laboratory, research, or project-based work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of standard research processes, laboratory techniques, and/or animal research practices.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and protocols with attention to detail.
  • Ability to recognize and resolve routine issues using established guidelines, with guidance from a supervisor when needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience or a related field.
  • Experience with laboratory techniques such as PCR, immunohistochemistry, or behavioral testing preferred.
