Exciting Opportunity at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center: Join the Antitumor Assessment Core as a Research Technician! The Antitumor Assessment Core at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center supports the early discovery and preclinical development of new cancer diagnostics and therapies by designing and executing rigorous in vivo testing using advanced patient-derived models. The Core plays a critical role in determining how potential treatments behave in living system, evaluating safety, dosing, effectiveness, and optimal treatment strategies before therapies reach clinical trials. You will be part of the team that has a profound impact on patient outcomes by enabling safer, more effective cancer treatments to reach patients faster.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in biology/chemistry or related field.
  • Comfort working with mice and rats is required; experience with mouse models is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and strong record-keeping habits.
  • Ability to follow protocols while troubleshooting when needed.
  • Team-oriented approach to supporting fellow researchers.
  • Adaptability in a dynamic lab environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with one or more of the following techniques is highly valued: tissue culture, organoid culture, Mass spectrometry (PK), ELISA, cytokine assays, processing/embedding of tissues, and staining of slides.

Responsibilities

  • Laboratory Support: Prepare and maintain lab equipment, instruments, solutions, stains, assays, and other essential supplies.
  • Techniques & Assays: Perform specialized techniques, such as tissue culture, primary cell-derived organoid culture, mass spectrometry, plate reader assays, processing of tissues for histopathology, and flow-cytometry.
  • Animal Handling: Conduct animal studies, including establishing mouse models of cancer, including cell xenograft and patient-derived models, drug administration, tissue/fluids collection, radiotherapy, mouse imaging, and rodent surgeries.
  • Data Management: Record and analyze research data, prepare reports, and provide insights to the research team.
  • Collaboration: Assist peers and researchers with ongoing projects, fostering a team-oriented, supportive environment.
