About The Position

The Research Technician prepares samples from the Refining Technologies test facilities for use in various testing procedures. Keeps accurate, well written laboratory notebooks for testing. Processes analytical data and document laboratory findings in technical reports. Analyzes samples with laboratory equipment (i.e., Gas Chromatograph, Distillation unit, Viscometer, Micro-Carbon Residue Tester, C7 Asphaltenes). Operates new analytical instruments for training. Troubleshoots and conducts maintenance of laboratory equipment. Trains students on laboratory equipment with focus on safety and accuracy.

Requirements

• Requires a Master of Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, plus 12 months of experience working in a research or industrial laboratory
• Must have knowledge of laboratory safety practices
• Understanding of renewable studies that use lignocellulosic material
• Extensive computer experience
• Ability to build models
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite
