About The Position

Van Andel Institute (VAI), a world-class biomedical research institute, located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, is dedicated to improving human health. We are pioneers in the fight against cancer, Parkinson's, and other diseases. We are committed to inspiring the next generation of scientists and educators. The Grainger Lab is seeking a full-time Research Technician to be a key part of our research team. We are interested in how Wnt signaling and metabolism impact on overall development. Work in the laboratory is conducted across multiple levels, including in vitro assays, mammalian cell lines, and zebrafish models. In this role, you will be provided training for the following responsibilities: Molecular and cell biology techniques (i.e. plasmid cloning, Western blots, qRT-PCR) Genotyping Basic zebrafish husbandry and techniques Assisting with general laboratory maintenance Detailed record keeping and adherence to protocols

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Cell/Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related biomedical fields
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and patience
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as an active member of an integrated team
  • Demonstrable written and oral communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • At least one (1) year of wet lab bench experience is preferred, but not required
