About The Position

The Microbiome & Bacterial Immunology laboratory at the Department of Animal Science investigates the host–microbiome interface in livestock, with emphasis on bacterial translocation from the gut to low-microbial-load tissues, host immune responses, and interventions to reduce antibiotic dependence. We seek a full-time laboratory technician to support molecular biology, microbiome analytics, bacterial isolation/culture, and immunology workflows. Prior experience in molecular biology or microbiome research is preferred but not required. Comprehensive training will be provided.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology, Animal Science, or a related field.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and record-keeping.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and follow SOPs.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with DNA/RNA extraction, PCR/qPCR, or microbiome workflows
  • Familiarity with aerobic/anaerobic culture techniques
  • Experience in histology or immunohistochemistry
  • Basic data handling (Excel/Google Sheets; optional R/Python exposure a plus)
