The DeKosky Laboratory for Immune Engineering (www.dekoskylab.org) is hiring a new Research Technician for dedicated assistance with laboratory operations and the implementation of cutting-edge scientific efforts. The hired candidate will aid in the implementation of projects and the management of laboratory operations and facilities related to the development and analysis of precision molecular therapeutics, with a focus on understanding, discovering, and engineering antibody and/or T cell receptor molecules. This position will focus on research and operations supportive roles to advance projects from funding sources, including the federal government, non-profit organizations, internal funding opportunities. The hired candidate will work closely with a dynamic and collaborative team of researchers in the acquisition and analysis of scientific data. The ideal candidate will have a passion for team-based science within an academic environment. The hired candidate will play an integral role in the DeKosky laboratory, and will be a part of cutting-edge research in precision and targeted therapeutics, especially related to global infectious diseases, cancer, and autoimmunity. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals that are curious about immune protection and want to participate in the exciting world of understanding how immune responses can be effectively engineered to fight human diseases. The hired candidate will work closely with all team members and other research groups in The Ragon Institute to ensure consistent laboratory facilities and operations. The candidate will also work with our diverse scientific team of postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, technical staff, and our extensive network of collaborators to perform scientific experiments, prepare new manuscripts, and to prepare scientific figures. The position will provide an immersive and rich environment in the molecular and engineering sciences. The Ragon Institute is an internationally renowned immunology-focused research center located in Kendall Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts, and with affiliations with MGH, Harvard, and MIT. Requirements

  • undergraduate degree with some experience in molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology, biotechnology or a related field
  • documented experience in developing functional immune receptor screening assays
  • demonstrated record and interest in working in scientific laboratory settings in molecular biology or biotechnology
  • Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study required
  • Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments
  • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures.
  • Prepare and handle samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Record experimental data accurately and maintain organized records of procedures, protocols, and results.
  • Compile and analyze data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods.
  • Assist in data interpretation and presentation, contributing to research findings and reports.
